Animal rights activists in China have handed in a petition containing 11 Million Signatures. This petition calling to end the consumption of dog meat which is popularly consumed during the annual June 21-30 festival in Yulin Southern China is a significant number of people concerned for the wellbeing of animals given the fact that animal exploitation, abuse and slaughterer is considered a cultural norm within China.

However, this petition and the fact that prominent Chinese celebrities opposed to the consumption of dog meat along with the government of Yulin dissociating itself from the dog meat festival is evidence that China’s Dogs may be guaranteed full rights and protection from slaughter in the future!

We need to have compassion for our ANIMALS. We are judged by our ability to ease their suffering and to treat them humanly.
