Lion Walks Around City Centre Like a BOSS

Columbus the lion was spotted walking around the city centre of Johannesburg, South Africa. Unlike other lions, this lion was part of a local production… but the film studio forgot to inform the authorities.

Without prior notice and road closures, people were scared like sh!t when they saw a lion walking past cars. The streets were emptied very soon.

While they usually roam the plains of Africa, it appeared that one lion wanted to take a city break. The wild cat was spotted strolling through the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa, and although it was a disconcerting sight, locals were swiftly reassured the situation was under control. The lion, named Columbus, was in fact starring in a local film production and had been borrowed from a nearby lion park, although the film company failed to notify the authorities. According to the Johannesburg Roads Agency, the filming had not been cleared and the film company took a risk by releasing the lion into the city, without previously getting approval to close several roads. Irvaan Dolley, from Ibiza, Spain, who witnessed the lion walk past, said: ‘It was a strange sight to see the lion strolling through the city like that and my first thought was to run.’

Luckily nobody nor lion was hurt and the film crew sorted things out with the police and had their production filmed.

    I have not been able to find any info on high court decision on Theo Bronkhorst. A Decision was to be made March 31st. If anyone knows please respond. Thank you.

    If you want to fight for lions and wildlife, then you need to realise how wrong this is.

    You blog post title I have serious issues with, totally irresponsible.

    This was also Lion Park in Johannesburg – exposed at the end of 2014 as having sold their lions into canned hunting, who offer cub petting and breed lions. A totally shocking facility… and this post is almost advocating that Lion Park filming and exploiting their lions is ok?
