Pair Of Rhino Poachers Gunned Down By Special Forces

Rhinos can rejoice today as a pair of rhino poachers were reported to have been gunned down by park rangers in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park (KNP) last friday.

A joint operation between forest guards and the Special Task Force (STF) was launched when authoritie confirmed a gang of five poachers entering to kill rhinos and forest guards.

In the fierce gun fight, two poachers were killed but three poachers managed to get away. Authorities were able to conficate several firearms, ammunition and other hunting equipments.

As of today, pachers have killed at least 22 rhinos in the Kaziranga state this year alone. Assam Forest Minister Atuwa Munda seeks to continue stern action against pochers.
