Cecil’s Neighbours Poisoned and Butchered by Rogue Park Rangers

betrayed rangers

The park where Cecil grew up and ruled as Lion King came under attack by rogue rangers who betrayed the animals they were supposed to protect as a form of retaliation for a slow resolution for a pay dispute. 62 elephants were killed as a result of the poisoning along with countless animals who share the watering spot. Tusks were hacked off and likely sold into the black market.

It is rather disappointing how rangers are doing this to the animals they’re supposed to serve and protect. But this is only a symptom of a larger problem, the lack of funding parks receive from the government for upkeep. The rangers who killed the elephants complained that they’re not getting reimbursed for expenses like gas and are risking their lives facing heavily armed poachers every day.

Park management was able to locate the rogue rangers confiscating 35 tusks and will be lobby for penalities for people carrying poisonous substances like cyanide at national parks. Management will also be conducting a count to determine number of elephants still alive and number of elephants with fully grown tusks.

Elephants lie slaughtered on the ground after reportedly being poisoned and mutilated by disgruntled rangers at Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe in a reported pay dispute

“The rate at which we are losing animals to cyanide is alarming. Many other species are also dying from the cyanide used by poachers to target elephants. We are appealing to people in communities close to national parks to cooperate with authorities.” The park management has stated.

A growing social media movement is calling for the rangers to lose their jobs. sign the petition here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/tell-a-friend/17272202

They killed that many elephants because of a pay dispute? Well, if I were their boss, they wouldn’t have to worry about their salary any more…FIRED. How in the world can we protect these animals if those who are supposed to watch over them get pissed and take it out on the innocent animals. SICK.
